Marian devotions are those prayers and acts undertaken to honor Mary and with the intent of seeking her intercession with her Son, Jesus, and his Father.Devotions to Mary started to develop after the council of Ephesus (431 C.E.) at which Mary was proclaimed "Theotokos" (Mother of God). Since then as the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the May Feast to Mary its Mother for 2000 years St.Peter's College also celebrated the yearly May feast by celebrating the Holy Mass with Chief Guest Very Rev. Dr. Susith Silva. Later the procession of the statue of Mother Mary was taken to the primary section along with the Prefects,Teachers,Acadamic ,Non Academic staff and the Priest Community with the reciting of the Holy Rosary by the student body. The excellent weather conditions on this day was indeed another fact that this feast and procession was occuring in the midst of Gods Holy Blessings and Protection.
